Most recently, he has been serving as the Associate Chief Medical Officer (ACMO) for hospitals in the Canyons Region, a role he assumed after serving as the Senior Medical Director of Surgical Operations.

“I am confident that Dr. Ferguson’s expertise and commitment to evidence-based clinical practice and leadership make him an excellent fit for this role,” said JP Valin, MD, Chief Clinical Officer of Intermountain Health. “We are excited to see the positive impact his leadership will have in the region.”

“I am delighted to introduce Dr. Ferguson, our new Chief Medical Officer. Rob's visionary leadership, marked by his excellence in quality, innovation, and community engagement, is a testament to his unique qualities,” said Jim Sheets, Peaks Region president. “His alignment of our region's work with the entire system will benefit our patients and caregivers, and his deep clinical knowledge is terrific. Having worked with Rob for many years, his leadership approach is precisely what we need to propel us forward.”

They enjoy sports, hiking, skiing, skateboarding, traveling, and even spontaneous dance-offs as a family. Their children consider it quite the accomplishment if they ever can beat Rob and Andrea in pickleball. The Ferguson family has a history of service together. For the past 10 years, they have run an organization that works with South Pacific governments and with First Nation tribes in mitigating the effects of diabetes.

Dr. Ferguson will report directly to Dr. Valin, Chief Clinical Officer, with dotted-line reporting to Jim Sheets, Peaks Region President.
