A new patient education tool in Epic replaces Clinical References
Intermountain Health has begun to launch a new patient education tool called Ignite on FHIR® in the Peaks Region. This program is part of the WebMD family and works within Epic, our electronic health record system. It helps caregivers quickly and easily provide patients with educational content tailored to their specific needs, improving both the patient experience and workflow efficiency.
How It Works
Ignite on FHIR® recommends education materials based on each patient’s diagnoses, medications, and procedures. The content is available in different formats like videos and documents, and in several languages. Patients can access these resources through MyChart, MyChart Bedside, or printed copies. This makes it easy for them to stay engaged with their care at any time. Clinicians can also track how patients use these resources, helping them better support patient needs. Ignite on FHIR® will replace the current Clinical References content in Epic.
Accessing Ignite on FHIR®
Caregivers can find Ignite on FHIR® in the Wrap Up tab under the Ignite on FHIR® section. This allows quick access to content that matches each patient’s health needs. All caregiver training materials can also be found in the Epic updates section of the Learning Home Dashboard.
As of Dec. 11, and during the launch period, you can press F1 on your keyboard to open the Go-Live Support Dashboard directly from Epic. This dashboard provides tips and tricks, a daily digest of trending topics, and a way to log a ticket if you encounter any issues.
What’s Next?
Ignite on FHIR® will first roll out in the Peaks Region, with plans to expand to the Canyons and Desert regions next year as part of the Epic transition. Peaks caregivers should have received bulletins last week with details about the platform, including information specific to different patient care settings.
