Funk selected as SMD for Peaks Primary Care service line
Karen Funk, MD, MPP, has been selected for the role of Senior Medical Director of the Primary Care service line in the Peaks Region.
Dr. Funk has over 20 years of experience as an accomplished CMO at a federally qualified health center in the Denver metro area.
She leveraged clinical expertise and strategic leadership to enhance patient outcomes and streamline care processes for a SafetyNet population of 60,000 patients and 600 employees.
Dr. Funk graduated with a bachelor’s degree in political science and concentrations in Black Studies and Public Policy. She went on to receive her MD degree from the University of Illinois/Chicago and completed her residency training in family medicine through the University of Colorado at Rose Medical Center.
As Senior Medical Director, Dr. Funk will provide leadership, oversight, and support for the development of a culture of high reliability and the measurement of care, identifying opportunities, building relationships, and executing on strategies to drive the performance and measured improvement of the service line.
Dr. Funk will operate in a dyad leadership structure with key organizational relationships across Intermountain Health collaboratively with all assigned region disciplines including Medical Group, peer service lines and markets, as well as Enterprise disciplines, including Clinical Programs, Clinical Shared Services, Clinical Excellence, Research, Medical Education, and the clinically integrated network.
