Six Good Samaritan medical staff members receive kudos

Good Samaritan Hospital often receives notes of gratitude from patients and family members, as well as words of recognition from colleagues and associates, about physicians and providers who have given extraordinary care and service.

Alex Ashton, PA, is excellent and efficient but also caring to the patients and families.

After I was admitted, hospitalist Richard Bigler, DO, went the extra mile to help me understand what might be happening. He even drew a picture on the whiteboard to help me understand. Turns out he was correct in what he suspected. Most importantly, your medical practitioners listen, they hear and they understand what you are trying to tell them. They make you feel heard, safe and cared for. I will always be grateful to the vital role Good Samaritan played in my still ongoing medical journey. There’s no amount of praise that I can heap upon the ER staff and Dr. Bigler at Good Sam to thank them all enough. I am grateful for your hospital and its wonderful people.

I came to your ER for desperate help three times before being admitted and put on the path to answers, healing and hope. Richard Carlson, DO, was the first ER doctor I saw; I think I saw him again, too. He was so incredibly attuned to what was happening with me. He acted quickly and explained what he was doing every step of the way, in a way that did not overwhelm or frighten me, while still letting me know my situation was indeed serious. There are no words to thank him. My husband and I are strong believers that it’s important to let people know when they do a good job, no matter the work. We all let people, companies, etc., know when there is a problem but don’t always take the time to praise the good things.

An elderly woman was seen in the ED by Nirav Chheda, DO, after accidentally swallowing her hearing aid battery. She was very appreciative of his care and wanted to tell him that he was right about what she could expect.

Courtney Greenup, NP, was very helpful, knowledgeable and kind when I was so fearful and in so much pain. I know the ER was very busy but she found the time to calm me and keep me informed what the next steps would be. It made all the difference.

Kimberly Fischer, MD, was incredible, helpful and informative. Made me feel like she cared for my needs as well as my family’s. Took the time to explain everything and check on me and my needs throughout my stay.
