Rustici selected SMD of Peaks Women’s Health and Neonatology service line
Katie Rustici, MD, has been selected for the role of Senior Medical Director of the Women’s Health and Neonatology service line in the Peaks Region.
Dr. Rustici has been with Intermountain Health/Legacy SCL Health for 12 years, working as a full scope OB-GYN at Central Park OB-GYN and Medical Director of Women’s Health for the Colorado Front Range.
While in this role, she has helped develop an integrated perinatal behavioral health program, a robust triage nurse program, and is developing a comprehensive menopause program to roll out in the Front Range in 2025.
Dr. Rustici graduated from Montana State University with a bachelor's degree in Cell Biology and Neuroscience before going on to complete both medical school and residency at the University of Colorado School of Medicine.
As senior medical director, Dr. Rustici will provide leadership, oversight, and support for the development of a culture of high reliability and the measurement of care, identifying opportunities, building relationships, and executing on strategies to drive the performance and measured improvement of the service line.
Dr. Rustici will operate in a dyad leadership structure with key organizational relationships across Intermountain Health collaboratively with all assigned region disciplines including Medical Group, peer service lines and markets, as well as Enterprise disciplines, including Clinical Programs, Clinical Shared Services, Clinical Excellence, Research, Medical Education, and the clinically integrated network.
“Dr. Rustici will be an amazing addition to the Service Line leadership,” said Christopher Awtrey, MD, and associate chief medical officer in the Peaks Region. “Dr. Rustici brings extensive clinical and leadership experience to this medical directorship role. She has built a successful practice at Saint Joseph’s Hospital for the past 12 years and for the past three years has served as the medical director for Women’s Services for the Front Range Intermountain Medical Group. As medical director, she was instrumental in growing our medical group General Obstetrics and Gynecology practice at Saint Joseph’s Hospital, Good Samaritan Hospital, and Platte Valley Hospital. In addition, she was a key lead in establishing our Front Range employed Gynecologic Oncology and Breast Surgery services as well as expanding both Maternal Fetal Medicine and Urogynecology services within the Front Range. Dr. Rustici is no stranger to the rest of our Peaks region. She grew up in Billings, Montana, and first developed her interest in medicine because of her amazing experience as a young volunteer at Saint Vincent’s Hospital. I am thrilled for the Peaks Region to benefit from all that Dr. Rustici will contribute to the delivery of women’s health services.”
