Patient’s sister thanks Lutheran team

To whom it may concern:

My sister was a recent patient at your Lutheran Medical Center facility, as well as Collier Hospice.

I would like to extend my gratitude toward all staff who cared for my sister, but in particular Tracy the ER unit secretary, Shiffon Lucero in Medical Records and Michael in Registration. They were all very instrumental with getting her mPOA into the system as quick as possible.

My sister came into the ER unresponsive and as her proxy I needed to be able to make medical decisions for her ASAP. Dr. Ritika Patel in the ER was very forthcoming as to my sister’s situation and I appreciate her honesty as well as compassion toward my sister’s health issues.

I would also like to express my gratitude toward the ICU staff RNs Issac and Madeline for their fabulous care of my sister. Issac went above and beyond to make my older sister and mother’s ICU visit very comfortable and professional as the staff implemented comfort care measures. I would also like to thank and commend Dr. Martin Cole of the ICU for his professional and heartfelt information that assisted my decision to begin comfort care for my loved one.

Kelly Barscht and Sandy, the hospice nurses, were also fabulous at providing comfort measures to my sister at the end of her life. Kelly was an absolute gem when it came to providing information, the steps of how hospice works, as well as keeping me informed as to my sister’s condition and comfort while she approached the end of her life before she was transferred to Collier. Sandy was very patient with all my phone check-in  calls and was super during the passing of my sister.

I hope your corporate office will take time to commend and recognize the great staff you have at Lutheran Medical Center. I feel like they went above and beyond with my sister’s care and my needs as her proxy.

Thank you to all Lutheran physicians and team members who care for the hospital’s patients and family members with the deepest compassion.
