Celebrating major gifts to the foundation

The City of Wheat Ridge has given $6,000 to support Lutheran’s Hospice and Palliative Care program.

The Schlessman Family Foundation has given $10,000 to help fund the Lactation Services program at Lutheran. This program provides lactation support services and donor breast milk to low-income mothers to ensure the best-possible health outcomes for both mom and baby. The Schlessman Family Foundation has been giving to the Lutheran Foundation for the last seven years.

Dawn and Ben Schwenk have made a $10,000 gift in memory of Bob West for Lutheran Hospice.

The Lutheran Foundation and the entire hospital community extend their thanks and gratitude to these donors and everyone who contributes to the foundation, strengthening its ability to support Lutheran’s clinicians and patients.

Dr. Kudos on Doctors’ Day!

The Lutheran Medical Center Foundation partnered with the hospital to recognize and honor all of the outstanding physicians who serve our patients on National Doctors’ Day, March 30. More than $6,000 was donated by our community, and donors gave kudos to caregivers with personalized notes.

A recognition poster filled with the thank-you notes included with the gifts was displayed in the Physician Lounge to celebrate and thank all the physicians who were honored by patients.

Sun sets on White Rose Evening

After 11 years of celebrating and supporting the compassionate and personalized end-of-life care that Lutheran Hospice provides to the community with unique silent auctions, food and beverage, and live entertainment, the Lutheran White Rose Evening event will sunset.

According to Lutheran Foundation director Kathie Repola, “After careful thought and much discussion, it has been determined that last year’s event will be the last White Rose Evening. This fundraising event brought awareness of the incredible work and dedication that Lutheran Hospice provides to the community and campus. As with most events there comes a time when it is time to move on and this is where we find ourselves this year.”

The Lutheran Medical Center Foundation still will be fully engaged in fundraising for Lutheran Hospice and will continue to support the important services that hospice provides.

“Thank you to all who have been a part of the White Rose Evening for the last 11 years!” Repola said. “The success of this long-running fundraiser was made possible by your support, and we hope you will continue your generosity to this much needed and important program.”
