Dr. Karng Log earns Circle of Care Award

By Kathie Repola, Lutheran Medical Center Foundation Director

Karng Log, DO, Hematology & Medical Oncology, has received the foundation’s most recent Circle of Care Award. Lutheran Foundation launched the Circle of Care program to honor physicians who have provided such exceptional and compassionate care that their patients make a contribution to the Foundation as an act of gratitude.

The large group that gathered for the award ceremony shows Dr. Log’s esteem within the department. Having a great sense of humor, he is known for lightening the mood and putting people at ease. These qualities prove to be valuable when helping patients navigate their lives through a cancer diagnosis and subsequent treatment. Dr. Log recognizes that such a diagnosis has a way of affecting every aspect of a patient's life.

The department gathers to congratulate Karng Log, DO, Circle of Care winner.

Although we treat cancer, my focus has always been more on a patient’s quality of life, attempting to provide as much normalcy as possible.
— Karng Log, DO

Log is board-certified in Hospice and Palliative Medicine, so he especially emphasizes quality of life when undergoing cancer treatment. If the situation is terminal, he helps patients discover what they want to accomplish with their remaining time. He shared a story of posing this question with a patient in his care who wanted to visit Hawaii. Following their conversation, the patient booked the trip, turning the dream into reality. Given the testimonies and widespread gratitude expressed for this exceptional physician, we can tell he takes great care in his work.
