St. Mary’s Announces Med Staff President-Elect/Chief of Staff

Matt Cyphers, MD, has been named St. Mary's President of the Medical Staff–Elect (Chief of Staff). His official term will begin Jan. 1, 2026

Get to know Dr. Cyphers, in his own words:  

“I was born in (admittedly a different version of) St. Mary’s Hospital and grew up in Grand Junction. I did rotations in both Pharmacy and Medical School at St. Mary’s; the latter included part of my Internal Medicine rotation with Dr. Kenneth Matchett, as well as Family Medicine and General Surgery.I have six siblings, most of whom live or spend a significant portion of their time here. I have a wife, stepchildren, in-laws, nieces and nephews and a large number of people I consider close friends in Grand Junction. Indeed, I have had two family members presenting to our ED, then admitted to the ICU within the last year. I am so thankful for the unequivocal life-saving care they received at St. Mary’s Regional Hospital. Thus, I am highly invested in assuming any role to ensure that care continues to be the standard at ‘our’ hospital in ‘my’ town.”
