Saint Joseph nationally recognized for excellence

By Jamie Smith, Saint Joseph Hospital President

At Saint Joe’s, we keep our patients at the center of everything we do. We hold ourselves and each other accountable to rigorous internal quality standards to ensure we provide patients with the safest and most compassionate care.

Monitoring and achieving our internal metrics is critical, but we are also very focused on meeting and exceeding key industry benchmarks and metrics tracked by external rating organizations.

I’m proud to share a few national honors that Saint Joseph Hospital has recently earned.

We received an “A” grade for spring 2023 from the national Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade survey for our efforts and dedication to protecting the patients we serve and providing safe high-quality care for the community. Saint Joseph Hospital has received an “A” grade 16 out of the last 17 rating periods since 2015.

Our cardiovascular service line was again honored with the Chest Pain - MI Registry™ Platinum Performance Achievement Award in 2023 from the American College of Cardiology. Receiving this elite recognition for the fourth straight year acknowledges and reinforces Saint Joseph’s status as a Center of Excellence in cardiovascular care.

We also just attained National Association of Epilepsy Centers Level IV Certification for our Epilepsy program which is the highest level that can be achieved. Saint Joseph is the only hospital in the Intermountain Health Peaks Region with this designation.

Additionally, our Center for Women and Infant’s has been re-designated as Baby-Friendly and also received the Celebrate 6 Award of Breastfeeding Excellence which recognizes facilities that have evidence-based policies and practices to increase breastfeeding success and improve maternal and infant health outcomes.

These accolades from external rating organizations validate that we are focusing on the right things in the right way. I want to express my deepest gratitude to our physicians, advanced practice providers, medical staff leaders and all of our incredible caregivers for delivering award-winning care for our patients.
