Recruiting, expanding as Kaiser withdraws

By Scott Peek, Front Range Market and Saint Joseph Hospital President

As we get ready to celebrate Doctors’ Day, I want to express my sincere gratitude to all our outstanding physicians for your contributions in building the culture of clinical excellence and compassion that Saint Joe’s continues to be nationally recognized for. Your dedication to our patients and each other is what makes this a special place, and I am honored to be a part of it.

I also want to provide some updates on our plans for maintaining and growing services impacted by the Kaiser Permanente transition from Saint Joseph Hospital including:

  • Actively recruiting and moving toward an employed model with a Urology group.

  • Exploring opportunities to replace Orthopedic volumes with a new provider.

  • Continuing our relationship with our Intensivist group from National Jewish Health that will now be the sole source provider for critical care and pulmonology needs.

  • Expanding our longstanding partnership with Midtown Inpatient Medicine as they adjust their staffing levels to accommodate for new volumes as the KP Hospitalist group transitions their hospital medicine presence this summer.

  • Continuing to support General Surgery with our employed and affiliated surgical teams.

  • Replacing and enhancing our Behavioral Health services by actively recruiting providers to deliver this crucial care for our patients.

And as we have previously mentioned, we are thrilled to officially welcome our six neonatologists to the Intermountain family this week and are excited that three new cardiologists will be joining us over the coming months, which will continue to strengthen these key service lines.

Additionally, we recently hosted Sound Physicians, our new anesthesia partners, at a visit to Saint Joe’s to get to know them and to introduce their team to our leaders, caregivers and impressive facility. We look forward to working collaboratively with them and our current provider, Colorado Permanente Medical Group, to ensure a seamless transition for our patients and clinical teams.

Speaking of welcoming new partners, I am excited that Adam George joined the Senior Leadership Team on March 10 as our new chief operating officer. Adam began his healthcare career as a physical therapist and brings decades of clinical and leadership experience and, most recently, was the vice president of operations of HCA HealthONE Presbyterian St. Luke’s and Rocky Mountain Children’s. I know Adam is looking forward to getting to know and work with our incredible Medical Staff.

Thank you for all you do,

Scott
