Physicians gather for Perioperative Grand Rounds

By Craig Simmonds, MD, Good Samaritan Perioperative Medical Director

I want to extend my sincere appreciation to all Good Samaritan surgeons, anesthesiologists and APPs in the surgical space for attending the Perioperative Services Grand Rounds earlier this month. Developed for all Peaks Region hospitals, it was very successful and well attended! All handouts, as well as the full presentation, are included here for any clinicians unable to join us.

The focus of the Grand Rounds was to help us to standardize many of the basic perioperative requirements for patients requiring surgery at any Intermountain Health hospital in Peaks. It also gave us all insight into the future of preop optimization throughout the enterprise. This included the news that Good Samaritan will trial new MyChart functions that not only send reminders to patients but also offer functions that help lead patients through the whole periprocedural process.

Below please find links to a recording of the meeting for those who can access MyIntermountain, as well as the full presentation slide deck for those who cannot. I also have included all of the handouts.

Perioperative leadership will continue to work with Good Samaritan Preadmission Testing, known as PAT, to incorporate these changes into our current practice. Thank you for reviewing this essential patient safety information, and please contact me with any questions.
