New Me+ Ostomy Recovery Program for post-surgical inpatients

Starting Thursday, Aug. 1, Good Samaritan will launch an additional program to help support patients after ostomy and ostomy-reversal surgeries.

The Me+ Recovery Program is a series of exercises that physical therapists can start with patients in the hospital to help them recover. This program is part of Good Samaritan’s multidisciplinary initiative to improve outcomes for patients undergoing colorectal surgery.

What is needed from physicians:

  1. Order “PT eval and treat: Me+ Recovery” for patients after ostomy and ostomy-reversal surgeries, as appropriate.

  2. When seeing patients at post-op visits, encourage them to continue to do the activities and clear them for phase 2 or 3, as appropriate.

Click here for more information about the process flow. Please share this with your teams and feel free to post.

Physicians with questions should contact Kelley Knapek, MPH, Good Samaritan Infection Prevention manager.

Thank you for your continued work to improve patient outcomes!
