Lutheran participates in #CultureofCare campaign

We know that workplace violence has increased in recent years, especially in healthcare. National statistics provided by the Colorado Hospital Association show:

  • Healthcare workers are 5x more likely to be injured due to job violence than other workers.

  • A nurse is assaulted every 30 minutes, on average.

  • In just one month, 90 percent of healthcare workers experienced or witnessed violence.

Intermountain Health is not immune to workplace violence. In 2022, the Peaks Region experienced a 32 percent increase in reports of disruptive behavior, threats and assaults.

Patients deserve a safe place to seek care, and caregivers deserve a safe workplace. Intermountain Health has a zero-tolerance policy for aggression and assault. We are committed to providing caregivers an environment where they can focus on delivering quality, compassionate care without fearing for their safety.

Lutheran, along with the rest of the Front Range and Peaks Region, is participating in a #CultureofCare campaign launched by Intermountain this month to raise awareness internally and externally about how workplace violence impacts our caregivers and patients and, potentially, the care they receive. We will continue to support our caregivers with education, resources and training opportunities to help them assess and reduce potential risks. Our caregivers are the heart of Intermountain.
