Ruchika Husa, MD, Cardiovascular Services, has been selected for the role of senior medical director of the Cardiovascular service line in the Peaks Region.

“The primary goals of the CV service line will be to differentiate CV services at Intermountain by standardizing evidence-based care, adding value by reducing inefficiencies across the region and leaning on our content experts to drive collaboration and growth,” Husa said. “Across the region, we provide the best-quality CV care, and we’re going to make that clear and well-known.”

She has collaborated closely with operational leaders in dyad relationships, focusing on strategic and operational oversight to align with the organization's clinical vision. As senior medical director, Husa will provide leadership, oversight and support for the development of a culture of high reliability and the measurement of care, identifying opportunities, building relationships and executing on strategies to drive the performance and quantified improvement of the service line.

"Dr. Husa's measured approach, experience and future-thinking perspective around proactive care models in cardiovascular services will help lead the Peaks region of Intermountain to be the essential partner in cardiovascular care in all of the communities we serve," said Jennifer Davenport, MD, Peaks Region associate chief medical officer.

Husa will operate in a dyad leadership structure with key organizational relationships across Intermountain Health, collaboratively with all assigned region disciplines including Medical Group, peer service lines and markets, as well as Enterprise disciplines including Clinical Programs, Clinical Shared Services, Clinical Excellence, Research, Medical Education and the clinically integrated network.

“Even with these new responsibilities, I will be able to increase my time for direct patient care, something I truly love,” she said.

Husa earned her medical degree from Georgetown Medical School in Washington, DC. She completed her residency in Internal Medicine and a fellowship in Cardiovascular Medicine at the University of California, San Diego. Her specialties include Cardio-Oncology and Structural Interventional Imaging.
