Four clinicians, entire department receive kudos
Each month we receive thank you letters from patients, as well as notes from our own caregivers and colleagues, about the exceptional care and compassion of our medical staff. We’re proud to post those messages and recognize the clinicians mentioned in Pulse.
Excerpt of a letter from a loved one
We arrived at the Good Samaritan emergency room at 4 a.m., and your staff diligently triaged my wife over several hours to determine the cause of her extreme headache. By about 10 that morning they had diagnosed a brain tumor, a meningioma that was quite large and dangerous.
The discussion with us was led by Dr. Kevin Chow. He guided us through his findings and the options that the family had to deal with. We were fortunate that Dr. Chow was there with us, as you could tell he was extremely smart, meticulous, clear, concise and very caring. We wouldn’t have wanted to be in this position without him.
By 1 p.m., we decided to proceed with the surgery. The entire surgery team, led by Dr. Chow , came down to us, stood in a line and reassured us individually that they were going to take great care of my wife. That was very sincere and powerful. I can still see each one of them.
They did what they said and by 5 p.m., the surgery was complete and the tumor was removed successfully. They also discovered an unrelated blood clot in her lungs. This complicated matters in her recovery and the surgery team stayed engaged through her 11-day stay at your hospital to ensure her health and safety.
We wanted to personally thank each one on this team, which also included Dr. Richard Bindseil, Kerri Ann Paris, CRNA, and Grant Bracken, PA, for their medical prowess and their kind and sincere demeanor for the way that they dealt with us. From the neurosurgeons to the physicians, anesthesiologists, nurses, aids, security, foodservice and housekeeping, they were all outstanding, professional, competent and friendly. Great Job!

The wound care nurses mentioned that the PAs and physicians have been very collaborative and reaching out more in the past few weeks. The Orthopedics team is including them in bedside rounds and asking for their input in complex cases. The wound care team would like to thank them for their intentional involvement with patient care.
Thank you to these clinicians and all members of our medical staff who provide excellent care to our patients every day.
