Eight St. Mary’s medical staff receive kudos

St. Mary’s Regional Hospital often receives notes of gratitude from patients and family members, as well as words of recognition from colleagues and associates about physicians and providers who have given extraordinary care and service.

Colleague to Colleague Kudos:

From Jannice Juliano, MSN, RN, TCRN, Director of Emergency Department and Behavioral Health:
Ryan Jackman, MD, deserves recognition for his tireless work with addiction patients. He’s very collaborative with the ED to ensure his patients are treated and kept safe from fentanyl. In addition, his work with recovering pregnant and mothering women is also amazing.

I want to give a huge thank you to Westin Amberge, MD. We had a rough afternoon in the ED, with several patients in the lobby and back-to-back trauma patients. We were short a few nurses and Wes came over to our charge nurse to see what she needed and how he could help. I appreciate him caring about our staff; it made a big difference.

From Trystyn Carlmark, RT(R):

I just want to say my sincerest thank you to Angela Pennell, MD. She was incredibly wonderful to work with during a voiding cystourethrogram (VCUG). She was amazing with the young patient and was so kind and comforting. While that exam certainly wasn't the easiest, she really made the environment so much better.

From Keith Scott Dickerson, MD:

I wanted to recognize Melissa Knight, MD, for her part in an amazing success story that kept a patient in the Emergency Department rather than re-admitting. The elderly patient was from out of town and remained in the ED through several shifts and turnover of ED providers, but it was probably best that the patient was never admitted and stayed in the ED. Through an incredible effort by the ED staff, we were able to coordinate a flight to get the patient back to his home state of Texas.

From Michelle Shiao, DNP, RN, CENP, NE-BC, Chief Nursing Officer:

A big thanks to Trent Milligan, DO,  and Alero Nanna, MD, for working late into a Friday evening to secure a discharge plan for a trauma patient.  Their collaborative commitment to excellence is impressive!

From Savanah Wilson RT(R)(VI):

I want to thank the two anesthesiologists involved in a successful late-night weekend PE thrombectomy case, Michael Allender, DO, the primary anesthesiologist, and Nathan Williams, MD. Both physicians were incredible. This patient was very sick requiring rapid care. Before we could proceed with our intervention, the patient needed a central and an art line placed in which both anesthesiologists worked simultaneously to obtain. This made the progression of the case must faster, and we were able to intervene sooner. Both were very pleasant and calm to work alongside throughout this emergent case, with clear and direct communication. I understand that IR doesn't have the ideal space for anesthesia, and at times, this can be frustrating - but our team truly does appreciate them. I know Christopher Hampson, MD, also verbalized his sincere appreciation for their support.  It was a good case, with a good outcome.
