Congratulations to these Platte Valley caregivers!

By Caitlyn Major

We recently celebrated the excellent work of our caregivers with the Daisy, Monarch, Leo and Eagle awards! Congratulations to these award recipients and to the many deserving nominees. Thank you for all you do to make Platte Valley a special place!

EAGLE Award: Congratulations to Dr. Edgar Mora on being honored as our second and final EAGLE Award recipient this year. Patients speak very highly of Dr. Mora's easy-going attitude and knowledge, which may be why he is beloved by those who work with him. Known for his calm and reassuring bedside manner, Dr. Mora takes nursing judgment and concern into consideration with an open mind. He’s there when problems and concerns arise. We appreciate that Dr. Mora is a kind, compassionate team player who always gets the job done. He is trustworthy, considerate and rational; he is also loved for his strong wit. Thank you, Dr. Mora, for not only delivering great care to your patients, but for also taking care of your fellow caregivers. Congratulations on this well-deserved recognition!

DAISY Award: Congratulations to Kathy Carboni, this quarter's DAISY Award recipient! As a team leader in her department, Kathy is well-regarded for her attention to detail. Her understanding of post-hospital services ensures that patients are not only well cared for at Platte Valley Hospital, but that they have strong plans to help them be successful once they leave our care. We appreciate Kathy's dedication to her work even in times of difficulty: during a period of limited staffing, Kathy seemingly single-handedly managed the Case Manager department with grace and patience, ensuring the patients still received all the care they needed. We appreciate Kathy's devotion to finding the best outcomes for the patients. Join us in thanking Kathy for her care, dedication and compassion.

MONARCH Award: Join us in congratulating MONARCH Award recipient Jimmy Chernega! Jimmy is a constant and steady presence who is always willing to jump in and do whatever. While his team celebrates his greatness at IV starts, that's just the start. He's always willing to jump in where needed, including taking a patient assignment, covering tele, helping restrain patients or even transport. Most importantly, Jimmy does this all without complaining, questioning or hesitating. Congratulations, Jimmy, on this well-deserved recognition!

LEO Award: Congratulations to our LEO Award winner, Meghan Brenneman! Meghan is always going above and beyond to support her fellow caregivers. Her reliability means she consistently does whatever is needed to ensure the patient gets quality, efficient care. Meghan is also always willing to step up and help in anyway that's needed; she's often the first to volunteer for committees or events. We are so grateful for her constant good moods and lightheartedness; she has a special ability to lighten the mood in tense situations as house supervisor and as CRN. Congratulations, Meghan! We are so honored to have you here at Platte Valley.
