A call to join the APP Council: Help shape the future of APPs at Saint Joseph

It is with a heavy heart that I must step down as the chair of the APP Council, due to my departure from the Saint Joseph family. Serving as the leader of this incredible and diverse group of advanced practice providers has been one of the greatest honors of my career. I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to have worked alongside such a passionate and committed group.
Though my time as chair is coming to an end, I have full confidence that the incoming leadership will continue to build upon the solid foundation we've established and will lead the APP Council to even greater success. As I transition out, I know the broad base of APPs at Saint Joseph will be instrumental in ensuring that the council’s mission and goals remain on track.
It is with great pride I introduce the new APP Council chair, Heather Austin, PA, Thoracic and Cardiac Surgery, and the new vice chair, Kimberly Johnson, NP, General Surgery. Please welcome them into their new roles and feel free to reach out to either of them or any other APP Council member. I am confident they will lead the APP Council and the Saint Joseph APP family to unparalleled success.
To truly maximize the impact of the APP Council and to further the success of our shared vision, it is crucial that we build a diverse, representative group of APPs from across all specialties within our institution. This is an opportunity for all APPs—whether in surgery, cardiology, OB, ER, bariatrics, electrophysiology or any other specialty—to contribute their unique perspectives, ideas and experiences to a collective effort. Your participation can make a significant difference.
We have set ambitious goals to optimize the scope of practice for APPs, enhance our integration into the Medical Executive Committee, and increase our involvement in nursing councils—areas where your voices can have a direct and meaningful impact. To make these goals a reality, we need representation from all corners of the APP community at Saint Joseph.
I encourage you to consider joining the APP Council, either as a member or as an APP Council Champion. Your engagement, your expertise and your passion are what will drive the group forward, and I know that together you can achieve great things.
