5-Star Experience

To the Saint Joseph Medical Staff:

Thank you for the hospitality shown during my first few weeks serving as president of Saint Joe’s. It is heartwarming that only a few of you ran for the hills when I came to introduce myself. All joking aside, spending time visiting with the medical staff to hear your thoughts on what makes Saint Joe’s special is invaluable and serves as a reminder of the key role you play in our success.

Recently, I read a Google review that rated the patient experience as a 5 star. What stood out to me is that the individual named several different functions as key to providing that experience. Whether it was expert physician care, a transporter, nurse or even the valet out front, we should be proud to work in a diverse setting with so many different abilities shining through and making an impact. The common thread among all of them was a desire to serve others.

The other experience during my first month I’m grateful for is the significant weather event. Despite sleeping in my office overnight and being scared to death when housekeeping barged in at 1 a.m., this event was meaningful because it was yet another reminder of how our team – caregivers across all departments and specialties – went above and beyond to make sure we could serve patients.
